Which certification suits you best?

All flying clubs and rental companies in Europe mainly fly aircraft from Cessna, Piper, Diamond, Robin, Tecnam, etc. These belong to the category 2 or 4-seater aircraft with a piston engine, in English “Single Engine Piston” or SEP. You recognize them by their registration with 5 letters, such as PH-ACX.
Some flying clubs also rent out “Touring Motor Gliders”. You can recognize it by the registration with 2 letters and 4 numbers, e.g. PH-1234.

There are 2 licenses that allow you to fly on all those aircraft in Europe: PPL and LAPL.

The Private Pilot License (PPL) comes from the USA and allows you to fly in Europe and the USA.
In addition, all European countries have jointly issued a license for European countries and it is called Light Aircraft Pilot License (LAPL).

Types of certification

The certifications PPL-A and LAPL-A licenses differ little and you can fly with both in European countries on almost all “General Aviation” SEP and TMG aircraft. The theory training is identical for both licenses.

If you have passed the LAPL and want to fly in the USA, we can also offer a conversion from LAPL to PPL.
After obtaining the LAPL or PPL license, you can also follow further training, such as aerobatics, glider towing, mountain flying and night flying.

There is also an “enroute instrument rating” which requires a PPL.  If you aspire to a commercial job in aviation, choose the PPL and expand it with a Commercial Pilot License.

Which route do you follow to get your license at the ACV Hilversum?

You take theory lessons and practical lessons.

The practical lessons are given by our instructors under three mottos:
1: It must be safe.
2: It must be educational.
3: Above all, it should be enjoyable and      fun.

Upon your first practical lesson you will be flying (supported by the instructor). You're at the bat. Everything in a pleasant atmosphere because flying is a serious and fun hobby.
You will learn how to fly the plane and perform special maneuvers. And of course you learn how to take off and land. Pilots often find the landing the most enjoyable part of the flight.

If you are sufficiently advanced and the instructor has confidence in it, then it will happen
first moment of euphoria. The instructor asks if you are ready.
If so ? then he gets out. You will then make your first flight independently!

You are SOLO!!! Your first landing? In front of you is the runway, it's all yours!!

In the meantime, in addition to the practical lessons, you are also working on the theoretical subjects. Our instructors can support you with this.

Once you have your license, you can make fun flights. A flight abroad or (just) a cheese sandwich on Ameland? The skies are open to you!

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned to heaven, because that is where you have been and that is where you will always long to return…
